Colne Valley Museum Visit

On Tuesday 8th November, Year 2 visited Colne Valley Museum and discovered what life would have been like

as a child in the Victorian Era. After being checked for smallpox they entered the museum and were

'put to work'!  The children were amazed when they had to grate the soap to do the the daily washing

and were astounded when they had to clean and polish a row of shoes!!  They all took part in

preparing the lunch - vegetable soup and scones with homemade butter - which was delicious.

In the craft room the children made highly scented lavender bags, corn dollies and wefties and in the

Spinning Room they were taught about the wool and how it was taken from the sheep to be made

into yarn.  All in all the children had a fascinating, funfilled day - and they all slept soundly that night too!!
