Maths Challenge

We have a challenge in the maths area each week to challenge the children and improve their problem solving skills within maths. We have been focusing on shape this half term in our challenge area and we have been asking the children to name 2D and 3D shapes; name their properties; describe a shape to a friend for them to work out the name of the shape they are describing; and the most popular challenge was one where the children had to use constuction equipment to create 3D and 2D shapes. As you can see the children thoroughly enjoyed this challenge and were very good at creating and then naming their shapes.

            

Addition And Subtraction

The children have been practicing reading, writing and working out addition and subtraction number sentences. We have started to use our very grown up maths books to record our work too.

           

Counting and Recognising Numbers

We have been counting, reading and writing numbers up to 100. Here you can see the class ordering numbers into a number line.
