Ourselves

Class 1's topic this first half term has been 'Ourselves'. the children have been learning about the similarities and differences between themselves and other children as well as adults; learning about all the different parts of their bodies and labelling them; looking at a human skeleton and finding out where the different bones belong in the body and labelling them; naming, finding out about and investigating the 5 senses and the parts of the body they relate to; looking at how our bodies change from being little babies up to elderly.  We have created a doctors surgery role play area for the children to work in, where they have been writing prescriptions, diagnosing patients and bandaging their patients poorly legs and arms. We have investigated the children in the class and looked at their hair colour, eye colour, whether they can click their finger, roll their tongues etc and then we created pictograms with the information, as well as creating a height chart in the classroom to track the childrens growth through the year.
