Meet the Governors


Andy Rushby (Chair of Governors)

I have been involved with the school (as a parent of three children) since 1999. I have served as a Governor since 2009 and I became Chair of Governors in October 2015.

I am a chartered town planner and have a Bachelor of Arts (with Honours) degree in Urban and Regional Planning, a Bachelor of Town Planning degree, a Master of Business Administration degree and I am a Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute. I am the Principal of Assent Planning Consultancy Ltd., which I established in 2011 and which operates in the private sector primarily to gain planning permission for clients. Prior to my move to the private sector, I worked for 27 years for Kirklees Council Planning Services, culminating in a role as the Assistant Head of Planning from 2006 to 2011.

My experience in both the public and private sectors enables me to help the school in various ways including budgeting, investment, and developing both its infrastructure and its people to best advantage. I aim to ensure that the Governing Body works closely with the Headteacher and the Leadership Team of the school to maintain and enhance the ethos and values of the school and to make sure that all our children are always at the very heart of everything we do. 






Fr. Paul Witts

Part of my role as parish priest of Linthwaite, Crosland Moor and Milnsbridge involves being an ex-officio Foundation Governor representing the local church.

My experience as a school governor goes back twenty years in both community and church schools. Although not many go to church these days, people and especially children, have a great interest in spirituality. I particularly enjoy encouraging this spiritual interest which can help us to live full and happy lives. Church schools have a lot to offer in helping people to develop themselves spiritually and in the Christian faith which strengthens communities and the common good.

After leaving school, I trained as a nurse at Huddersfield and Sheffield Schools of Nursing and attended the universities of Bradford, Sheffield, Manchester, Oxford and Sheffield City Polytechnic. Before ordination in 1996, I worked as a university lecturer in organizational psychology and health service management. I share a vicarage with three Jack Russell Terriers and together we explore the moors above Huddersfield on a daily basis.



Rachel Stirling (Foundation Governor)

I have been a Governor since 2017. I have 2 children attending the school, one aged 8 and one aged 10. I am passionate about education, enterprise and business. I believe strongly in opportunities which are equal for all. For me family is at the centre of everything else and Linthwaite Ardron School is an integral part of my children’s life and therefore ours as well.

I feel that the school has excellent values based on putting children first, pastoral support and an ethos of caring for children whilst delivering the curriculum effectively with bolt on additional support for children who need it. The links with the church and the community and the Christian way of life are also very important to me.

As a Governor, I have special responsibilities for Pupil Premium and Risk Management and I am part of the Resources Committee

As a business adviser and business owner for over 25 years, I have started and managed a number of businesses. I currently spend 50% of my time working in the Early Years Sector and regularly support providers and schools with strategic planning and implementation of new government initiatives to ensure financial sustainability can be achieved and maintained. This role also includes reviewing existing policies and procedures and overseeing the development of new or improved ones. In addition, a lot of my time is spent working with senior managers to look at internal issues such as staffing, operations and marketing.

The remainder of my work time is spent with a variety of private clients who range from Electrical Engineers to Accountants and from Industrial Boiler Manufacturers to Architects. As a result, I have a good knowledge of many business sectors and have implemented a lot of good practice.

I am also a business and leadership & management facilitator, trainer and mentor and have

written and mapped standards for business start-up and business support and devised and developed many training sessions and webinars. I have assessed business plans for grants and loan schemes.

I am currently a director of 2 businesses and I am the Chair of Linthwaite Ardron Friends.

I am a Fellow of the Institute of Consulting and a Fellow of theChartered Management Institute.

Natalie Eyles (Teacher Governor)

I have been a member of the Governing Body since around October 2015 and represent the staff as  Teacher Governor.

I am also part of the Standards and Effectiveness Committee.

I have worked at Linthwaite Ardron since September 2006, when I started my teaching career as an NQT. 

I had also completed my final teaching placement at Ardron in the previous year. I trained at Bradford College, completing a four-year BA (Bachelor of Arts) degree in Primary Education with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status). My specialism is English Language and Literature.

Throughout my time working at Ardron, I have taught through from Year 1 to Year 6, including some mixed-age classes; before we became a full one-form entry school.

In 2010, I became the Key Stage 2 Team Leader, taking responsibility for monitoring teaching, learning, attainment and progress in Years 3-6.

I also do lots of practical organisation around school - timetables, rotas etc!

I currently teach Year 5.

I am also the English Coordinator and Professional Mentor (to student teachers and NQTs.) 




Andrew Bradshaw

I have been involved with the school (as a parent of two children) since 2010. I have served as a Governor since 2014 .

I work as a director for a logistic supplier and have significant commercial experience across a broad spectrum of companies. I studied at the University of Huddersfield and have both a Master Of Business Administration as well as a Post Graduate Certificate of Education.

My experience in the private sectors enables me to help the school in various ways including, negotiation, strategic planning and project management experience as well as budgeting and statistical analysis.

My key aim as a governor is to provide guidance and support to Headteacher and the Senior Leadership Team of the school to continue to develop the ethos and values of the school, ensuring that everything we do is centred around the development of the children and staff.



Claire Horne

I became a member of the Governing Body in May 2017. I am the Governor responsible for Early Years and I am also a member of the Standards and Effectiveness Committee.

I currently work for a Pharmaceutical Company as a Marketing Project Manager. I have a BA (Hons) degree in Business with Marketing from Sheffield Hallam University and I am a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM). Prior to this I have held various roles within Planning / Marketing at Volkswagen Group UK Ltd and Masterfoods UK.

As a Parent Governor with a child currently in KS1 I am keen to work with the staff and the rest of the Governing Body at Linthwaite Ardron to ensure we are doing our best for all the children who attend this lovely school. As part of my role, I welcome the opportunity to visit the school as often as I can, visiting the children in class and attending class assemblies and nativity plays.


Sequoia Chapman

I have been involved in the school since being appointed as an LA governor in 2014 and have been vice-chair since 2017.


Previously having worked at Cummins Turbo Technologies, I am now Head of Transformation at the Christie Hospital in Manchester. I have had quite a varied set of jobs in both the public and private sector, having been a teacher and Head of English during the first part of my career. This means I have a good understanding of the pedagogies and also the challenges of teaching and running a school, even one as lovely as ours! After finishing my teaching career, I moved into project management and continuous improvement, which has led me to where I am today at the Christie. My experience means that I understand data and how to analyse this data effectively, as well as the methodologies of improvement and the importance of holding to account.


In my personal life, I have been married for six years now, and have one little girl who’s six months old.
