World Book Day 2021
Everyone at Linthwaite Ardron celebrated World Book Day on March the 12th, with a fun and fabulous book-filled day.
As well as writing book reviews and blurbs, we had a whole school 'Guess Who?' quiz, a handwriting competition and designed our own favorite book covers.
Maths Fraction Fun!
Spring term is when Year Five tackle fractions and decimals in maths. For our introduction to equivalent fractions, we all played some fun games and activities to help us find and work out equal parts of whole numbers and shapes. Mrs Moss used a chocolate bar to show us how to divide into different 'equivalent' pieces or 'fractions' of the whole bar. It was the most delicious maths lesson ever!
It was rather a different Nativity experience this year, with each class filming their own section of the Christmas story and contributing to our whole-school filmed production. Below are some wonderful Angels from Year Five, in rehearsal for their scene on the hillside with the shepherds.
Our Whole School Pilgrimage 2020 - To Celebrate God's Gift of Water
We all enjoyed our trip to Blackmoorfoot Reservoir and we used it as a stimulus for some quality writing.
Y5 - Multi-media, local landscapes in the style of David Hockney
Y4 - Highwayman Art using chalk
WOW! - Our walk, scoot or cycle to school project.
Linthwaite Ardron is delighted to announce that we have a budding poet in our midst. In the Spring, Year Five all wrote poems based on the theme of Ambition as part of the Premier League Primary Stars scheme. They were all so good that Ms Starrett entered the poems into a national poetry competition and Kiki was a regional winner! She will be having her poem included in a poetry anthology and also received a goody bag full of books and stationary. School has also received a box of books for our school library. Well done Kiki, we are ever so proud of you!
