INTENT The intention of our maths curriculum is that children are taught to become competent and independent mathematicians. At Linthwaite Ardron, we use a number of resources to deliver a varied curriculum: Power Maths; White Rose, Mastering Number, NRich amongst other resources selected for suitability. IMPLEMENTATION Maths lessons include time for discovery, sharing, collaboration, practice, reflection and challenge. This is to help children develop fluent recall and their conceptual understanding. Children are also encouraged to solve problems each day through the use of concrete resources, pictorial representations and abstract thinking. IMPACT As a result of our maths teaching you will see: engaged children who are appropriately challenged; lessons that use a variety of resources to support learning; different representations of mathematical concepts and learning that is tracked and monitored to ensure children make good progress. |

Y2 maths learning outdoors - place value and 'magic square' activities
EYFS activities during maths week England
Y4 Maths Week England
Year 6- Measurements
In Year 6, we went outside to measure different areas and objects in the playground. We converted the measurements to millimetres, centimetres and metres
Year 1- Practical counting in two's
We each brought in a pair of socks to school and headed outdoors where we played a game of pairing them up.
Once we each had our own pair of socks back we pegged them on a washing line and carefully numbered our pair (we had to watch very closely to make sure we ordered them correctly and it was also great to practice forming our numbers the right way)
We then used 'careful counting' to count in two's together in the sunshine!
Y4 Maths Learning Outdoors - Roman Numerals
'Active maths' PE lesson
Y6 practical maths work using concrete resources
